About this role:
Syngenta Biotechnology China (SBC), one of Syngenta’s seven global Research & Technology Centers, is seeking a highly motivated Molecular Plant Pathologist to join our Genome Editing research teams in Beijing to develop cutting-edge technologies and promising career path. Join us !!!
Accountabilities:
· Providing technical expertise on development of important disease resistant traits in major Syngenta crops using genome editing technologies
· Designing and implementing experiments to identify targets and validate the efficacy of edited alleles in lab, greenhouse or field assays
· Managing projects and actively interacting with scientists within SBC and other Syngenta business units to ensure critical project milestones are met
· Developing and managing research collaborations in China
· Maintaining accurate experimental records and performing all activities in compliance with Syngenta quality management and HSE guidelines
Essential Knowledge & Experience:
· Deep knowledge on molecular plant pathology is required, and experience in major crops diseases research (e.g. virus, nematode, or fungal disease) in greenhouse or field is highly desirable
· Direct experience in experimental design and execution to dissect plant-pathogen interaction and engineer disease resistance using modern biochemical, cell biological and genetic approaches
· Broad knowledge on agricultural biotechnology, including genome editing technology in trait development
· Good project management and function planning skills
· Proficient in public data mining and use of bioinformatic tools to identify and analyse target sequences
· PhD in molecular plant pathology and 5+ years of working experience in relevant field with a proven record of success in the form of publications and/or patents
· Excellent presentation and scientific writing skills
· Proficient oral and written English communication with global teams
· Self-motivated and drive for excellence
